Michael Bolton was born Michael Bolotin on February 26, 1953 in New Haven, Connecticut. Being extremely talented in singing and composing music, he received his first contract for a record label at the very young age of 15. He became a member of a band called Blackjack and used to tour with Ozzy Osbourne. He formally became known as Michael Bolton in 1983 when he had his first break as a singer and songwriter with the song How Am I Supposed to Live without You. He was known as a songwriter who sings from the heart. He became hugely popular in the 80’s and the 90’s because of the originality of his songs. His rendition of the popular song Lean on Me with various other artists proved that Michael Bolton indeed has touched the hearts of many fans through his music. The crooning voice sometimes described as dipped in honey never fails to send countless hearts aflutter! Michael Bolton is a highly celebrated songwriter and used to sing duet songs with singers such as Laura Branigan. He wrote songs for popular singers like Barbra Streisand, Kenny Rogers, Patti LaBelle and Peabo Bryson. Michael Bolton is a father of three daughters from his marriage with Maureen McGuire. Their names are Isa, Holly and Taryn. He is currently involved with one of television’s highly acclaimed stars named Nicolette Sheridan from the television show Desperate Housewives. They are rumored to be engaged after a much publicized proposal in the Bahamas. Michael Bolton has established the Michael Bolton Charities in the year 1993. It was called Michael Bolton Foundation then. It aims to help and assist women and children who are at risk from the ill effects of poverty, and different forms of abuse such as physical, emotional and sexual.

Michael Bolton is also an honorary chairman of the Prevent Child Abuse America Campaign and also serves as the national chairman to the This Close for Cancer Research. He also serves as a board member of the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and the National Mentoring Partnership.

Being extremely dedicated in protecting children from harm and being an exemplary citizen of the US, he received awards like the Lewis Hine Award from the National Child Labor Committee and the Martin Luther King Award from the Congress of Racial Equality.
