Originally titled "National Secretaries Week" when established as the last week in April in 1952 by the National Secretaries Association (now the International Association of Administrative Professionals) the holiday now recognizes the contributions of millions of administrative assistants, with 8.9 million United States workers in various administrative support roles.
In 2000 the name was changed to "Administrative Professionals Week" and "Administrative Professionals Day" (Which is the Wednesday of "Administrative Professionals Week" Administrative Professionals Week is on of the largest workplace observances. In addition to showing appreciation to staff, there are training seminars, corporate activities and gifts.
