The American Blues Singer and Guitarist Jonny Lang
Jonny Lang was born Jon Gordon Langseth, Jr. on January 29, 1981 in Fargo, North Dakota. Little did his parents know that their child would one day become one of United States of America’s leading blues singers who can charm the hearts of many followers that love emotional soulful music like nothing else in the world.
Jonny Lang’s Exposure to Music:
Jon Gordon Langseth Jr. soon became famous at the very early age of 14, when he released his first album entitled Smokin’. This album was under the name Kid Jonny Lang and the Big Bang Band. He started playing the guitar at the age of 12 when his father brought him to watch the Bad Medicine Blues Band perform in Fargo. The band inspired him to take guitar lessons under Ted Larsen, the guitar player of Bad Medicine Blues Band. He soon joined the band himself and was re-named Kid Jonny Lang. The band was later on renamed with his namesake and is now called Jonny Lang and the Big Bang. He is currently married to long-time actress and girlfriend named Haylie Johnson and lives in Los Angeles with her.
The Albums:
The band soon after relocated to Minneapolis and independently released Smokin’. The album was signed under A&M records in the year 1996. During the next year, Jonny Lang released his debut solo album entitled Lie to Me. This album was critically acclaimed and was later declared multi platinum and propelled him to win a scene stealing cameo in the film Blues Brothers 2000.
Chills run down your spine when the long haired kid mopping the floor starts playing screaming guitar leads and singing with a mature passion. He released his next album called Wander this World in 1998 and this earned him a Grammy nomination and later an invitation to play for an audience in the White House. Long Time Coming was later released in 2003 and features more soulful rock music that has become his trademark. Turn Around was recorded and released in 2006, featuring gospel influenced singles. Jonny Lang’s versatility in music earned him worldwide fame in the realm of blues music.

Jonny Lang has earned recognition all over the world. Music luminaries such as Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones, Sting, Aerosmith, B.B. King and Jeff Beck have hailed his talents in singing and playing the guitar. Jonny Lang’s voice that simply barges its way into the hearts of his followers and his blazing guitar solos honed by years of playing and practice have made him one of the permanent famous names in the blues world.
Jonny Lang went through a series of changes with his backing band members and continues to create tantalizing soulful music for his followers today. He embarked on various acoustic tours all over the country to bring his music to the people of America. Jonny Lang continues to bring the blues closer to our hearts and souls.
