Wow, the officiating crew really screwed this game up. Did they not realize that Johnson spiked the ball on first down? That blunder confused everyone, including the commentators. It's kinda hard to tell if the fans knew what was going on or not, but this totally falls on the officials heads. Horrible ending to a game if you're a fan of the Mizzou Tigers, but, nevertheless, this will always be a huge chapter in the annals of college football history.

I still think that the 1990 CU team should have ********* to indicate the 5th down and the mysterious clip call. However as credit is due they did win at NEBRASKA, they did tie a good UT VOLS team, and IMO I think the 1990 UW team was the best in college football, im still baffled that they lost to UCLA. Now here's a question what college season is more confusing 1990 or 2007?

I hate to break it to you, but Florida State was NOT in the ACC in 1990. If they had been, it would have strengthened Tech's claim to the national title had they won.

I hate to break it to you, if they were in the ACC they would have whooped on Tech's ass in 1990. That Georgia Tech team was flat out nasty, don't get me wrong. I also think the 1990 COLORADO reeked of B.S. with this 5th down and a mysterious clipping call on Notre Dame in that Orange Bowl.

Which might be true or might not. If USC were in the SEC this year (or Big 12), do you think they would be in the top ten? Nope.

FSU was NOT in the ACC, and I was simply answering somebody's question.

Sorry dude, I was being a smart ass, I apologize.

How the hell can you say that Tech didn't play a team that ended the season ranked when they played Virginia, Clemson, and Nebraska, who ended the season ranked 9th, 23rd, and 24th respectively?
Maestrohbill (November 3, 2008 at 2:11 am)
Nothing. It doesn't change it. These games are offset by the fact Tech played four opponents ranked 21-30 while CU played FIVE opponents ranked 59th or worst including #59 Missouri.
Maestrohbill (November 3, 2008 at 2:08 am)
No they didn't. CU fans try this all the time. According to the schedule rankings, CU played the eighth toughest schedule while Tech played the 13th toughest - hardly a major difference. Oh, and I wouldn't say beating Texas by SEVEN points was clobbering them, either.
